Yet another major gran fondo teams up with Cyclokalender in order to reach out to the ever growing gran fondo community in The Netherlands, Belgium and surrounding countries. We proudly present the Highlander Radmarathon as our newest partner. You're unfamiliar with that event? Well, this is about to change. In their home country Austria, this is already a well-known sportive. The 9th of August the entire region of Arlberg is dedicated to this beautiful event. This kanton is known for winter sports. Some of you will be familiar with big names such as Lech and the legendary St. Anton.
The names Hochtannbergpass, Flexenpass, Faschinajoch and Furkajoch are probably less known amongst cyclists. That's a shame, because cycling in Austria is a joy. Nicely paved roads, low-traffic routes in an enchanting surrounding. That's more or less the deal. The village Hohenems hosts the start and finish. The longest route has 187 km and a staggering 4040 meters of elevation. Serious stuff! The shorter route (146 km/2400 elevation) is not a walk in the park either!
This event is a true hidden gem in the world of gran fondo's. More info: https://www.highlander-radmarathon.at/Related stories
