His first granfondo was the Marmotte in 2003. Since then, every year he rode one or more granfondos, like the Dolomites Marathon, Dreiländer giro, Quebrahantahuesos, Vaujany, La Morzine, Time Mont Blanc Megeve, Epervier and Ötztaler Radmarathon. In 2012 and 2013 he rode the Tour TransAlp, which he considered the most beautiful cycling week.
Has a passion for granfondo riding and discovering cols. He has ridden dozens of granfondos, tours and stage races including the Marmotte Alpes and Pyrenees, Tour de Kärnten, Dolomite marathon, Engadine Radmarathon, Les Trois Ballons and the Criquielion. Despite he has a very long todo list. Most beautiful gran fondos: Ötztaler Radmarathon, Sportful Dolomiti Race and the Alpenbrevet. Secret tip: the Riderman, a three-day event in the Black Forest.
Maintains the rides in Germany and Scandinavia. Regularly he rides a German 'radmarathon'with a lot of altitude meters on preparation for a nice mountain granfondo. Therefore he is asked to maintain these countries for Cyclocalandar. Germany in particular has a large number of nice cycling rides. Affordable, catered well and generally quite traffic and number of participants.
He started cycling in the last eighties and he rode thirteen classics until 1996. After a 3 year break he discovered the high mountains in 2000. In 2013 he participated in his first granfondo, the Maratona dles Dolomites. Then several granfondos followed: Marco Pantani, Fausto Coppi, Marcialonga, Gran Fondo Stelvio, Ötztaler Radmarathon, Maratona dles Dolomites (again), Gruyere Cycling Tour, Les 3 Ballons and Ardechoise.In 2017 and 2018 he didn't ride a granfondo, but maybe in 2019 he will make a comeback.
